Light your fire?!

The use of natural raw materials in new markets is becoming the rule rather than the exception. However, we also see a trend that the traditional industry is moving more towards the use of natural raw materials. As technical consultants, we recognize and encourage this movement. In the coming period, we will take you into the world of natural raw materials.

Whether it is the time of year, romance is in the air or a loved one is being remembered. Candles have been used for centuries as a source of light and warmth. In the 19th century, the candle industry went through a major development. And therefore, despite technological developments, the candle has become an integral part of the industry. But what natural improvements are possible in this industry?

De Monchy Waxes

De Monchy has a long tradition of supplying waxes into industry, concentrating on close ties with suppliers in Brazil. We have been a major importer of Carnauba Waxes for many years. With this strong focus and an increasingly clear need, we have been able to increase the source of natural waxes. These new sources of natural waxes make an excellent replacement/addition to your candles.

Soy wax
This is a 100% all-natural wax, produced from Soybeans which are natural, renewable and biodegradable. Soy wax is slow burning and has a low soot burn so you’ll get a longer lasting, cleaner candle with a subtle scent profile. Available in several forms, including soy wax flakes, it is a very versatile wax and has many uses for the candle producer: including container, votives, tealights and tarts.

Palm Wax
Hydrogenating palm oils produces another type of 100% all-natural wax, palm wax. Palm waxes allow you to create candles with unique textures, since, in most cases, there is a crystallizing pattern (on pillars or containers) or feathering pattern (available on pillars) that forms on the candle’s surface. This is a good wax for use in the production of pillar candles, tealights and votives

Coconut wax
This is a new entrant to the candle market and while it is slightly a more expensive option it does have the benefit of good scent throw and an even burn profile so for many producers the expense is outweighed by the quality of the finished candle. This is a creamy white wax that is very ecofriendly option to traditional waxes.

Rapeseed wax
This wax has excellent fragrance retention, giving good scent throw and long burn time. Again, this is a new wax into the candle industry and can be used as an alternative to Soy wax. This is a very green alternative to waxes that have more intense farming techniques.

Paraffin Wax
Paraffin wax is still popular due to the fact it carries scent very well and retains its color. While not a natural wax, it does use parts of the oil refining process that might otherwise be discarded. Again, this is a multipurpose wax and is suitable in the production of all candle types.

Not convinced yet? Don't worry, we are happy to convince you of the function and additional benefits with a free sample. If, in addition, you should decide in favor of a traditional wax in the form of paraffin because of its excellent scent throw and burn profile, we will be pleased to help you.
