Petroleum based polyols are currently short due to a number of factors including increased worldwide demand, supplies impacted by COVID-19 and the freeze in Texas earlier this year (where a large proportion of worldwide propylene oxide is located – propylene oxide is a major component in the manufacturing of polyols).
De Monchy offers several bio-based polyols derived from castor oil and cashew nutshell liquid. Cardanol based polyols are derived from agricultural wastes, demonstrated to be sustainable with good performance. With this range of polyols, we offer the performance of the petrol polyols but sourced from the beauty of nature at a fair price.
Polyol types
Our cardanol based polyols are suitable for polyurethanes (PU) rigid foam application. De Monchy can offer 2 mannich polyols and 3 basic polyol grades all derived from cardanol. Castor oil are unique amongst vegetable oils because:
