Fischer-Tropsch wax from China

The demand for wax and wax derivatives will increase the coming years and the capacity of wax producing companies has not yet been established to fulfill this increasing demand. Traditional refinery processes, Class 1, disappear increasingly to the background or are being rejected.

In order to have an answer to the change in demand, the market is looking at the use of synthetic alternatives in different applications. In many cases, new formulations and compositions are being developed which create an interesting platform for innovative solutions.

The Monchy wax division wants to partner acting on this innovative platform and there for has expanded its delivery program with Fischer-Tropsch wax from China. A cooperation with a major Chinese producer has been established and our mutual intention is to create a strong partnership in Europe with a focus on sustainability and consistency. In April 2017 a pilot plant was started production of Crude FT wax with a capacity of 1KT. The capacity at the end of 2017 will be extended to 20KT to ultimately have an output of 160KT in 3-5 years. In addition to the standard FT wax grades, studies will be done to investigate the necessity for innovative products. So far, the focus is on the production of alternatives for the high melting FT100 wax. In addition, our partner has an FT30, FT50, FT70 and FT90 wax.
