Innovation and productivity starts with discovering the possibilities. In the next two blogs we would like to take you through the possibilities regarding the raw materials of our newest principal LyondellBasell. We proudly present Adflex. A flexible TPO resin, among others, used in Polymer Modified Bitumen.

Advantages

Adflex resins are advanced reactor TPO's produced using proprietary Catalloy process technology from LyondellBasell. Adflex resins exhibit excellent impact performance at low- and room temperatures with a soft touch. Other advantages of Adflex are:

  • Lower penetration results compared to other modifiers (avoid footprint - installation)
  • High-temperature resistance
  • Very suitable in a warmer climate
  • Cost-effective solution (to be mixed waste stream polyolefins’)
  • Durable performance
  • Free-flowing pellets

Application of Adflex

Adflex resins are very flexible TPO resins used in speciality films, stretch hood, extrusion coating, textiles, bitumen modification and consumer applications. It is also used as a blend component to improve the impact performance.

For the water roofing membrane industry, De Monchy can offer you Adflex X 101H, which has a MI of 8g/10 min and Adflex Z 101H which has a MI of 27 g/10 min. The Adflex Z 101H is lower in viscosity. If required more, this can be added and makes it easier to reach up to 9% in the formulation needed for good phase inversion. However, interesting to know is that Adflex Z 101H helps to disperse the filler better compared to the Adflex X 101H.
