Koattro – a LyondellBasell product

With the start of the new partnership, De Monchy and LyondellBasell endorsed the Hot Melt Adhesives (HMA) market as an industry with potential for its mPb-1 product portfolio. We therefore like to introduce Lyondell’s product Koattro, the backbone of HMA formulations!

Advantages

Koattro is an additional polymer used in formulations to improve open time, cohesion and heat resistance. Other great advantages are that:

• Koattro has a great flexibility
• Koattro is easy to melt
• Koattro has a slow crystallization behavior (grades such as 1200 M) which will result in significantly higher cohesion after several weeks.

Applications

Due to the high crystallinity grades (1200 M) and higher cohesion, Koattro is suitable in the woodworking and assembly industry. Due to its high heat resistance, it can be used in cardboard packaging. Due to the right green strength and longer open time, LyondellBasell’s Koattro is of excellent use in mattresses, filtration and carpet industry. Because of the good cold flow, the mpb-1 of LyondellBasell is often used in the film packaging industry.
