The International Group, Inc (IGI) is a leading company with a strong focus on the development and production of waxes. Since 2014, IGI has added a production of low molecular weight, straight chain PE waxes to its portfolio. This development generated an improved quality of the existing PE wax and it introduced a more consistent product line.

The advantages of Acculin series of PE waxes

The production process of Acculin PE wax is unique and differs from the standard PE wax manufacturing because of its specific catalytic polymerization process. Using this technology, the waxes produced have a narrow molecular weight distribution and as a result, narrow melt distributions. The Acculin series of PE waxes is known for its very low Polydispersity (1,05) that gives the wax an excellent crystallinity.

Acculin PE Waxes are straight-chain, fully-saturated and lineair-low molecular weight homopolymers of ethylene, with a high degrees of linearity and crystallinity. They have low-melt viscosities and are relatively hard waxes, even at elevated temperatures. They exhibit excellent heat stability and resistance to chemical attack. Standard grades varying in molecular weight from 500 to 1000 (C-35 to C-72) and melting temperatures between 81°C – 129°C.

The Acculin product applied in a variety of end applications

IGI’s Acculin PE waxes can be used in many applications, such as inks, coatings,  mould release and adhesives, production of EPS and cosmetics. There are many more industries and applications under development that can usesuch a PE wax.

Inks

Acculin PE offer improved rub and mar resistance and slip characteristics. An addition of 0.5% to 2% micronized Acculin PE to lithographic and flexographic ink. It can be used as substitute for PTFE in combination with other waxes.

Adding  1-3% of Acculin PE to your Ink formulation, improves flattening significantly.

The Acculin PE also act as anti-offset agents when applied via heat fixation in dry toner applications.

Coatings

Acculin gives good anti-blocking, improve slip properties and a good scratch and mar resistance in coating applications. Acculin have a good solvent resistance in many solvents at room temperature. The Acculin PE wax is an excellent performance ingredient in temporary as well as permanent anti-corrosion hot melt dip coatings for automobile application.

Mould Release

Due to the hard and crystalline sharp melt profile of the Acculin PE, it is the excellent choice in the formulation for PU molding release agents. It usually gets formulated into Aqueous Dispersion with other ingredients.

Adhesives To enhance the properties of hot melt adhesives:

Acculin PE wax can be used to lower the viscosity of hot melt formulations and to increase softening points. The Control Set Off has a seeding effect in the hot melt formulation causing crystallization of the adhesive on the substrate to occur more readily. Besides, it can be used at a low concentration to raise the solidification point significantly.

Production of EPS

In EPS production, optimum cell nucleation enables superior finished product properties and insulation performance. The formation of the small uniformly sized cells promotes a better-finished surface and lower density of the final molding.

Cosmetics

Acculin waxes bridge the gap between a high melting paraffin wax and a high molecular weight polyethylene in personal care and cosmetic formulations. They can be used to enhance product stability, texture, and control melting point/cycle time. Acculinol provides the same key benefits, but with modified polarity to tailor compatibility in the formulation.

General use/wax blenders or formulators

The wax blenders or formulators are generally used for paraffin modifications, to increase melt point and melt point viscosity, to improve hardness at elevated temperatures, for resistance to abrasion/scuff in coatings, for superior performance in controlling set/softening point of hot-melt coatings and adhesives, to lower solubility in solvents, and to thicken oil capability in cable fill or personal care products.
