The diverse applications of epoxy primer

Whether it concerns an epoxy, polyurethane, PMMA or decorative concrete floor, there is a good chance that an epoxy primer will be applied as a chemical sealer, compaction agent or adhesive layer on mineral substrates. Epoxy based primers distinguish themselves when it comes to penetrating power capacity, moisture tolerance with wet or green concrete, vapour barrier and gas tightness, moisture barrier or even osmosis resistant and vapour permeable barrier layer.

Added value of epoxy primer

In epoxy primers, the added value is largely determined by the choice of hardener. For example, with a standard low viscosity modified epoxy resin, you can choose between polyamide, polyamine and mannich base hardeners. Not only can the epoxy VOC free formulated, but also BPA-, Salicylic acid-, and (nonyl)phenol-free can be produced for your safety and that of your customers.

Future towards sustainability

Besides the attention for safety and processability of epoxy systems, there is an increasing focus on sustainability and reduction of carbon footprint. For example, an increasing proportion of epoxy resins are based on renewable feedstock (bio-based) and harmful solvents can be replaced by water.
