For over 30 years, De Monchy has represented the supplier Jayant in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Our trusted supplier, located in India, is owned and managed by the Udeshi family since 1952. Their bio based content range varies from product to product, with range from 50% to 100%. Moreover, the majority of Jayant’s raw materials (80%) are bio based.

Application of Castor OilSustainable Production Process Jayany

It is interesting to know that Castor Oil has been used for thousands of years. In the past, Castor Oil was used to help with wounds and sores. Right now, the oil becomes applicable in more and more industries. For example, Jayant’s Sebacic Acid, Castor Oil, and its polyols are used in the formulation of polyurethane based laminating adhesives in industries like food packaging and glass window sealants.

Next to that, the synthetic waxes such as paraffin and microcrystalline are now replaced by the Hydrogenated Castor Oil and its various derivatives used in applications like cosmetics, metal polished, candles, deodorant/antiperspirant sticks, adhesives, colouring crayons, rubber processing, paper coating, investment casting waxes and many more.

In addition, the Hydrogenated Castor Oil and its fatty acid (commonly called 12-Hydroxy Stearic Acid), the methyl hydro stearate are used in the formulation of greases in the form of their soaps, for example, lithium and calcium salts of these are used as thickeners for greases.

Jayant’s zero-waste production

Our supplier Jayant is making sure that the production process is completely circular and ISO 14001 certified. To begin with, the Castor Oil is extracted from a sustainable source, called castor beans from the Ricinus Communis plant. The fuel used for heating energy and steam is entirely derived from 100% bio based material. The ash generated after the burning of the bio-fuel is a good fertiliser being rich in phosphorous and potassium and most of the water used in their processes is collected and reprocessed to make it suitable for re-use.
