Rotterdam / Capelle aan den IJssel, 6 October 2020 -
LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies and De Monchy, an international trading company, are pleased to announce that, as of July 1, 2020, they have entered a  distribution agreement. From this date, De Monchy International BV has been appointed to distribute LyondellBasell Koattro mPB-1 product portfolio within the Hot Melt Adhesives (HMA) segment. The geographic distribution area will be the north-western and central Europe.

“To be successful in the Hot Melt Adhesives segment, dedicated expertise and a separate focus from our traditional thermoplastics applications is required,” says Johanna Jones, Marketing Director Europe at LyondellBasell.  “De Monchy provides a network and complementary product portfolio to position and grow our Koattro mPB-1 products within the HMA segment. We look forward to growing the business together.”

“De Monchy is extremely pleased and proud to represent LyondellBasell,” says Gerko Snel, Managing Director at De Monchy International BV. “LyondellBasell, is recognizing the Hot Melt Adhesives market as a potential growth market, and De Monchy is able to support and realize this growth based on its local market expertise, technical know-how and network. A welcome and good fit for a successful and flourishing partnership. ‘’

Both companies believe that the Hot Melt Adhesives market has a big growth potential. There is a clear trend within this industry towards using metallocene products as polymer backbone of HMA formulations. Koattro mPB-1 products offer unique characteristics, such as very low volatile organic compounds (VOCs), that meet the increasingly demanding requirements of the end-use applications. HMA’s are mainly used in the construction, automotive, wood working and profile wrapping, mattresses, upholstery, packaging, and in the hygiene non-woven industries.
